Version 1.3 is out

Version 1.3 is in the marketplace.

The big update in this version is that there are solar eclipse calculations added.  Solar eclipses are listed and the locally visible ones are indicated in the 'local' column, see the screen shots below.

The full list of updates for this version are:
  • Added solar eclipse page.
  • Ephemeris files are now included in apk file
  • Redesigned the What's Up Now planet's data screen. 
  • Added an "Update" entry to the What's Up Now menu.

Version 1.2 is out.

Version 1.1 is out

Version 1.1 is in the Android Marketplace.
The changes for this version are:
  • Added magnitude, rise time, and set time to the planetary data
  • Redesigned the planet info screen in the What's Up activity
  • Redesigned the Planet's Position screen
  • Added filter to the What's Up screen to filter based on brightness
  • Added magnitude column to What's Up screen
Planets Position was accepted into the Amazon Appstore.  I will put a link on the right to its page when it is open.

Version 1.0.3 out

Version 1.0.3 is in the marketplace.
The changes in this version are:

-Updated the Swiss Ephemeris library from 1.76 to 1.77.
-Removed the ephemeris files from the apk file.
-Added code to download and unzip ephemeris file to the SD card.

I also added links to the Android marketplace and the AppBrain marketplace on the right.

Version 1.0.2 Available

Version 1.0.2 is in the marketplace.
This version fixes a SQLite error when saving location data.

Version 1.01 Available

Version 1.01 is now in the marketplace.
For this version, I removed the temperature and pressure values from the location, changed the domain name for the Geonames download site, added find location from the network, cell tower/WiFi, if GPS is not available or disabled, and added icons to all the menus.

Version 1.0 Available

Planets Position is now in the Android Marketplace for free.

With this app, you can calculate the position of all the planets in the sky at any time and at any location on Earth.
You can calculate the position of an individual planet for any time between the years 1900 to 2100.
You can also see a list of all the planets that are above the horizon at your device's current date and time.

New Site

This is the site for the upcoming Android app Planets Position. I will be submitting it to the marketplace shortly.

This app will compute and display the coordinates of the nine planets and the moon in the sky for any place on Earth.
